The celebration continues in Atenas!

Dear Friends,

It is a beautiful morning that fills me with added gratitude at being able to greet
another day full of promise. Let’s all get out early and move in gentle harmony
with all that surrounds us. My heart expands with energy and I will try to live a
day of serenity while I partake in the day’s activities in the center of Atenas. I
urge us all to embrace life’s goodness wherever we find ourselves.

Yesterday was a rather gloomy and chilly day. The sublime landscape was not
visible like it is today and I felt unmotivated to make my way into town. My
Saturday ceviche lunch was calling to me, though, and I eventually drove to
get it. Once I get out of the house, I never regret having done so. I met people I
enjoyed catching up with and I made it a point to drive by the area where the
Youth Council has organized a weekend fair, as part of Atenas’ 150th birthday.

I was astonished and impressed by the transformation that had taken place in
the “plaza”. A massive tent, complete with cathedral windows and side walls,
kept visitors, exhibits and vendors protected from the outdoor elements. Food
trucks lined the streets and music filled the air. I am not sure, but I think a stage
was built to provide a showcase for musical performances. There is a whole
lineup scheduled for today as well and I am planning to attend for a while.

The last few weeks have been very rewarding for me. I have had the chance to
spend time with young people who are involved in a variety of projects. Some
people I haven’t seen in a while tell me I look happy and rejuvenated. Although
I respond that it is the magic of my talented hairdresser, the truth is that time
spent with positive people is my secret. I thrive when guests from other lands
experience the charm I get to live every single day in my little town. It is not
something I ever take for granted; I hope the same is true for wherever you are.

Have a wonderful day and a terrific week, Marietta
