It is a bit hazy this morning. There is a cool breeze in the air and the birds
are quieter than other Sundays. I am grateful to greet another day in which
I can celebrate the lush, verdant panorama that soothes my eyes. I marvel
at the way Nature paints her colors and scents the air with soft perfume. It
is an invitation to all of us to stretch and breathe in the goodness before the
I am filled with optimism and general feelings of goodwill that are no doubt
produced by having spent Saturday in the company of loving and kind people
breaking bread, sharing stories and enjoying abundant laughter. It is wonder-
ful to connect with others who find reasons to celebrate being alive despite
the challenges faced on a daily basis. It is a reminder that our perspective is
the one thing we can control as we navigate our circle of influence.
I am in the final stages of packing for my trip to New York tomorrow. During
the last few days, I have felt a tiny bit overwhelmed by the last-minute details,
even though I am fairly confident that I haven’t forgotten anything crucial. I am
looking forward to connecting with even more wonderful people as I enjoy the
different activities I have planned and the many spontaneous opportunities that
being there affords. Traveling is not as exciting as it once was but people are
always fascinating to watch and changes in the airport decor entertain me.
So far 2019 has been a year of living, learning, and moving on to new things.
The year is going quickly, as they all seem to at this point in my life. I celebrate
fewer events but with more enthusiasm. I recently observed a woman getting
out of her car to guide our long-term resident Carmelina (who is slowing down),
across the street. My heart is filled with thankfulness. I am making a habit of
catching people undertaking these actions, it renews my faith in our future.
I wish you a magnificent day and a wonderful week, Marietta
